David "Daso" Soto and Maria "Angie" Hernandez of Cemi-ya have teamed up to bring you:
"The Urban Folklorico Project"
This workshop was created to engage the people of our communities through cultural arts with a twist. This Bomba y Plena dance workshop includes Afro-Puertorican Poetry and shows the link between the expression of our ancestors and our modern day expression through hip hop. Showing the evolution of our music and dance. These workshops have positively influenced many children and adults by giving them pride in their heritage which has enabled them to become successful in all aspects of life.
This union was bound to happen. The impact that Angie's passion to community activism through cultural arts has had on her son Daso (who by the way is a product and a true proof that this approach to artistic activism works), has been the fuel to Daso's music which is a fusion of Latin Caribbean Roots Music and Hip Hop.
The Urban Folklorico Project is available to all who have a sincere interested in a real cultural experience. Further details please feel free to contact Daso at 917-582-4784 or Email
